Can an atheist or agnostic follow the Buddha's teachings without believing in reincarnation or organized religion? Confession of a Buddhist Atheist. He is also a long-time scientific skeptic. Yesterday I came across the title of Stephen Batchelor's new book, Confession of a Buddhist Atheist. The new publication is Confession of a Buddhist Atheist. Best Memoir: Witness by Curtis Smith. I still can't put my finger on it exactly. He chose to do a PhD in Philosophy rather than Buddhist Studies, pursuing a minor in South Asian Studies alongside. Its author, Stephen Batchelor, is at the vanguard of attempts to forge an authentically western Buddhism. Honorable mention: Caged by Cameron Conaway, reviewed here. I picked up this book by Stephen Batchelor for the sole purpose of reading his account of how and why the Buddha was murdered. Best Buddhist Book: Confession of a Buddhist Atheist by Stephen Batchelor. This approach is presented in Batchelor's Buddhism Without Beliefs and Confession of a Buddhist Atheist. There is something about the title that I found odd.
